Hiroaki has more than 20 years’ experience in M&A and investment management with a successful track record that covers a variety of asset classes, including public equities and bonds, REITs, private equity and loans, credit default swaps, and physical assets
In 2018, Hiroaki played a leading role in the launching of Japan Investment Corporation, a government-affiliated fund, as the Executive Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer
Prior to joining JIC, Hiroaki was Managing Director and Tokyo Branch Manager at LIM Advisors, a Hong Kong-based multi-strategy investment fund. He made a significant contribution to LIM funds.
Previously, he worked at Olympus Capital Holdings Asia, a private equity firm, where he played a leading role in the investment and management of portfolio companies in Japan. Before that, he worked for Goldman Sachs in New York and Tokyo, advising clients on M&A and corporate finance transactions in the financial, high tech, and transportation sectors, and the Japanese Ministry of Finance as policy officer for the national budget and price policy
Hiroaki has also served on various expert panels regarding corporate governance and investor-shareholder relationships at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, including the “Ito Review” and Active Fund Manager Subcommittee of the Forum for Integrated Reporting
Hiroaki holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tokyo

Mr. Oka has been active in both global M&A and business restructuring markets for over 30 years. He is currently Senior Advisor at PwC. He is now focused on the origination of large international investment opportunities for major strategic and financial investors.
In 2015, he successfully completed an origination, funding and lead advisory engagement in the formation of a multi-billion US dollar JV investment fund between a leading Japanese PE, a leading global PE and a leading Japanese bank which will focus on the investment opportunities in Japan.
He served as a senior advisor on various business and financial restructuring engagements including Sharp, Takata, Mitsubishi Paper and Cosmo Oil in 2014 and 2015.
From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Oka managed as a CEO, the start-up of Japan Industrial Solutions (JIS), a US $1 billion PE funded by MUFG, SMBC, Mizuho and DBJ. He led 4 investments in the underperforming TSX listed companies, including SUMCO, a globally leading manufacturer of silicon wafer, JEOL, another global leading manufacturer of electron microscope, and ALVAC, a leading vacuum technology engineering firm, for over $400 million in aggregate and actively led the turnaround of these businesses, which included serving the non- executive board position with one of the investee companies.
Prior to 2010, Mr. Oka was the CEO of PwC Advisory in Japan for 8 years and lead the start-up and the growth of the advisory business to the leading business restructuring advisory firm in Japan with over 300 professionals during the period.

Toshio has advised Japanese corporate and governments to formulate investment
strategies, set up and operate investment arms for 25 years. His current role at Solaris
Management includes establishment of funds with investors and execution of engagement
investments.
He started his career at Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting and then worked for the IB
Division of Nikko Cordial Securities affiliated with CitiGroup. Prior to join Solaris
Management, he was Director of PwC Advisory to advise Japanese companies and the
governments on fund strategy development, structuring and performance improvement.
His advisory track records at PwC included establishment of two government-backed
funds: Japan Investment Corporation (JIC), the largest fund of funds sponsored by the
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and Japan Green Investment Corporation for
Carbon Neutrality, the decarbonization-focused fund by the Ministry of Environment.
Toshio was also seconded to: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan from 2004 to 2006;
JIC from 2018 to 2019; and Nippon Paint Holdings from 2020 to 2021.
Toshio received Ph.D in Business Administration from the University of Tsukuba. He is
also registered as Certified Career Counselor by the Ministry of Health, Labour and
Welfare; and a member of Japan Industrial Counselors Association
He concurrently serves as: Commissioner of the Fiscal Investment and Loan Program
Subcommittee of the Fiscal System Council under the Ministry of Finance of Japan;
Director of the Board of Green Finance Organization (Ministry of Environment of Japan);
Advisor to Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,
Transport and Tourism); and Researcher of the University of Tsukuba
